YOU’D be forgiven for thinking this luxury holiday home was in Bali rather than Lorne.
The property at 1144 Great Ocean Rd is fully decked out in Indonesian style, from its villa-inspired interior of recycled timber, ornate tiling and bamboo ceilings with exposed beams, through to its tropical gardens.
Great Ocean Road Real Estate, Lorne, director Ian Stewart said the “one of a kind” pad had been a holiday home for its Bali-loving owner, a venue for functions such as weddings, and a popular short-term holiday rental that had attracted a string of celebrity guests.
These included Hollywood actor Nicolas Cage, singer Ricki-Lee Coulter, journalist Jennifer Hansen and Neighbours star Alan Fletcher, according to Mr Stewart.

The agent said the house was designed by its current owner and a builder who were both “regular visitors” to Bali and were accordingly able to “pull the house together with such integrity”.
Mr Stewart said temple lights flanking the driveway immediately transported the house’s visitors to the tropical island.
The property is being sold via an expressions of interest campaign closing February 2, with a $3.5-$3.8 million price guide.
Its vast floorplan includes a formal lounge with an open sandstone fireplace, a second informal living room, and indoor and outdoor dining areas.
The house also has four bedrooms, including a lavish master featuring a dual-vanity ensuite with black granite bench tops and a sunken bath.
Vast expanses of floor-to-ceiling glass frame the home’s uninterrupted ocean outlook.
Mr Stewart said whoever bought the home could keep it as a holiday getaway, or make it into a dream permanent residence.
